Need effective enforcement against inflation Posted: 08 Jun 2011 06:52 AM PDT DAP National Deputy Chairman and MP for Kepong Dr Tan Seng Giaw reiterates that effective enforcement is important in controlling inflation. On 8.6.2011, Dr Tan notes that the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs has set up 1 Malaysia Pengguna Bijak (1MPB) portal for consumers to compare prices of goods in 1,255 outlets in Malaysia. The recent increase in electricity tariff by 12.17% puts pressure on inflation in the country. Despite the Government saying that the prices of goods will not increase,the people are cautious. They are aware that inflation is due to many factors. If consumers can look at the above-mentioned portal and compare the prices of goods, it may help. On the other hand,the Government has to be seen to be fair and to be able to enforce various measures effectively. To have effective enforcement, we require a clean and trustworthy government. The people have an important part to play to bring about good governance. Dr Tan Seng Giaw
